Indiana Politics
July 7th, 2008
Well, in the great old state of Indiana, we have an interesting gubernatorial race this year. As well, the Indiana House of Represenatives is slightly out of favor for Republicans. Luckily, the State Senate has not succumbed to the power of the evergrowing liberal machine in our great state. The competition for governor is going to be a difficult one, since people do not like change by nature. Governor Daniels has made an honest stride towards making it a better place for Hoosiers to live, and to encourage a very business friendly environment to keep Hoosiers at work while other states are loosing jobs. To set the facts straight, Governor Daniels has delivered some of the most radical changes and turnarounds our state has ever seen.
The facts are the following about Governor Daniels, and what he has accomplished in 3.5 years…just 3.5 years:
- According to the constitution of Indiana, the budget for the government is to be balanced. In over a decade, that was not met by the Democratically controlled Governor and leadership. However, Mitch achieved Indiana’s first two honestly balanced budgets in nearly a decade.
- Indiana now ranks #1 in the Midwest, #12 for nationally for our business climate, and #1 in international investment in the country in 2007. (Results taken from Forbest magazine.)
- Since taking office, over 60,000 new good-paying jobs have been committed by 2012 and some 50,000 more Hoosiers have jobs now than in 2005.
- He is securing good paying jobs, with an average annual salary of more than $39,000, or about $5,500 more per year than the average Hoosier salary.
- Indiana’s unemployment rate is the lowest in the region, and CEO magazine has rated Indiana #4 in the Midwest and #8 in the nation to do business.
- Mitch provided the only plan to permanently cut and cap property taxes forever, helping every Hoosier homeowner, including seniors and young families alike.
- He took the last administration’s $200 million dollar deficit and turned it into a $1 BILLION dollar surplus.
- Indiana is the only state in the nation with a record breaking 10 year transportation program WITHOUT raising taxes.
And much, much more!

Governor Daniels early campaign commercial in his effort to prevail over Jill Long Thompson, the Democratic nominee for Governor.
So, this is a first post about Indiana politics, and the rapid changes Governor Daniels has brought Indiana and will continue to bring. I will post more soon about blogs within the state of Indiana…and of course, they will be with a conservative slant.
Thanks,
